Michael Vick appears to be headed back to the NFL. So as a C Store Owner how will that affect you? Many C Store Owners are stocking licensed NFL Products into their stores this fall to take advantage of the NFL craze that ensues each year. In terms of impulse sales, NFL merchandise ranks right behind collectible lighters and Sunglasses. But will any team that signs Michael Vick be able to sell merchandise with his name on it? As of today, most teams in the NFL are steering away from any connection with Vick. This is mostly due to a fear of losing season ticket holders and advertisers in their stadiums.
But what about the team that does take a chance on him? And there will be that team. What will happen to sales of team merchandise in that city? My guess is that this will be a polarizing event for a short time, with PETA in one corner, and hardcore fans of Micheal Vick in the other. The rest of us will lean slightly one way or another and eventually settle in as just fans.
