Last Thursday the crew from 9 News Kusa TV in Denver came by to do a story on our incredible deals. We were then featured on the 6 o’clock news later that day. Now the secret is out. Here is the story as featured on 9News.
It’s easy to do. A quick trip inside a convenience store and you’ve suddenly racked up several dollars in goods.
Now is your chance to stock up, without breaking your New Year’s finance resolutions.
Convenience Store Direct, which supplies merchandise to metro area convenience stores, is going out of business.
Starting Thursday, the company is offering big discounts on everything from toys to cell chargers to jewelry.
The store manager says the economy has had a big impact on sales.
“We are now opening to the public, selling off hundreds of thousands of merchandise that would have gone into convenience stores that now sits idle in our warehouse,” Scott Thompson, general manager of Convenience Store Direct, said. “We have about a quarter million dollars in inventory that we’ve marked off about 70 percent retail.”
There’s still plenty of time to get a deal.
The warehouse, located at 6801 S. Emporia Street in Englewood, is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
This weekend, they’ll also be open on Sunday.

I was raised in Miami. There is no cold temperatures there. The coldest it gets maybe 59 degrees for two days. We only get about 2 weeks of cold weather, meaning is cold in the morning but by 12pm is hot and humid. I recently moved to Colorado to get away from the heat and enjoy CO outdoors activities. I never would have imagine how cold I would be. I see people here in shorst and short sleeve shirts, running, shopping and just walking around. What is wrong with these folks? Can they feel that cold breeze running up there shorts. I freeze here easily, I have about 3 layers of clothing and is not even winter yet. Luckily there plenty of winter gears that I can buy to stay warm. I tend to over do it sometimes, poepl are always asking me if I am on my way to go skiing. Because I look like a skier . I look like I am about to hike the Himalayan mountains, all im doing is going to work. Been protected this year in winter is going to be my main goal. Because of this reason, CSD will stock up THE BEST winter wear around. We will have gloves, hoodies and ski wear. We will keep Colorado warm this winter. I will make it my personal goal.

I could think of a group, a place where a small gathering of people would take place. That would be church. We all share the same activities, task and purpose in the church. At church we tend to be more people oriented and tend to focus more on a face to face basis. There is no competition or rivals, the church welcome any outsider with respect. In order for you to join the church, a walk in would be just fine. The pastor would be the “leader’ if you will. The formal group I could think about would be college. Where there is a larger challenge, communications is mostly in writing and competition. There are based task to complete daily. There are rules and regulations we all must follow. There is not just one specific location; everyone has a different task or a place to be. There is definitely a sense of belonging, individuals identify with the each other in school through sports or other activities. Outsiders are distinguished from members and treated like rivals. People in groups tend to be like each other, is important to have a similarity. The more the group gets involved the more they share alike.

We are all on the edge of our seats watching this drama unfold. As the balloon touch down softly I took a deep sigh of relief thinking that he was now safe. But they opened the balloon and he is not there. Where is this boy? Did he and his brother concoct the story to scare their parents? Did he fall out of the balloon while it was in flight? Perhaps this happened before the cameras go there. Could he be lying somewhere hurt? I continue to monitor the situation and will blog more as it unfolds.

In order to save on packaging. I always get my boxes from any source that I can. Liquor stores are a great source for the larger boxes. I also visit natural food stores to find the small ones. Also, if you absolutely have to buy your boxes, dont go to a retail store as they will be marking up their prices so that you would be throwing away 40% of your profits. I would do a search in your local area for wholesale boxes and then your zip code. In my area their is an Expedx that sells boxes for half what I would pay at a retail store. They also have tape and stationary for sale. Boxes are expensive. So are Ebay fees. In order to make money we have to work hard to cut corners. Good Day my friends!

Hi everyone,
Tired of those eBay extra fees?
Here is a small tip that may help you minimize cost.
The web site eBay can help us make extra money, there’s no question about it. I am living proof. However, the fees in the long run can really affect your profit margins. Have you noticed that eBay charges you an extra .15 cents per picture? Or how they want you to accurately take more than one picture, in order for your customer to see up close what they are getting themselves in to. I agree. But why charge for extra pictures? This is a small marketing plan eBay has implemented in order to make extra money. There’s away around this, you can host your own images using photobucket. How you may ask? It’s easy! Some basic computer knowledge can get you on your way to saving some money. If you register with photobucket.com. Once you upload your images, you will see at the bottom of each image, some options. Choose the option that reads HTML. Copy and paste the HTML code into eBay description. You will notice while you are writing your description two tabs labeled “Standard” and “HTML”. Once you have finished writing your standard description, switch on over to the HTML side and look for a spot where the pictures would fit in. Simply paste in the HTML and boom, your pictures are bigger, better, and the best part, it’s free. There is so much more you can do. Just play around with it and find out basic HTML format. You will be a master at it in no time. Good luck
Down below is a website that can teach you basic HTML, such as “<Center>” which will center your images, instead of throwing them to the left. Or “<p>” which will space your paragraphs, instead of having them all cluster together.

Good luck my friends,
William

My views have not changed at all. I still believe that the purpose of existence is death, then there’s everything in between. That is just my opinion. Maybe because I have a real bad phobia of death, when I think about it I freak out and pray to God. If you would look at the purpose of existence through the eyes of a religious person, such as a Christian, that would mean that the purpose of existence is to worship God and spread the good book. This question is perfect for me because there is no true answer, this question can be answered in many different ways. Every person will have a different answer depending on their life’s experience or mistakes. We live to die and we exist to long enough to taste death. We are left here to choose whether or not we believe e in a purpose of life. Why we obey laws and follow the plan that is laid out for us before we are even born. Is the purpose of existence to wake up, work, come home, clean, cook, and take care of kids and sleep? That may be the “American Dream” to some people. But nightmares to others, what kind of answer would you get from these two scenarios? One may say that the purpose of life is to explore and see what the earth natural resources has to offer. Maybe we have been trained what to believe from the moment we are born. We never have a chance to stop and think what the purpose of life. I mean most of us are set into making money and achieving high grounds. Yet some of us are perfectly happy driving a car with 100 thousand miles. The purpose of life is an answer that is difficult, if you want my opinion I say is simple death.

I went fly fishing with my friends Jim and Bruce and my good dog George this past weekend on a section of the Blue River below Green Mountain Reservoir in Colorado. We had never floated this section of river but were enticed to go there based on rumors of 10 pound plus trout lurking on the private water owned by Paul Jones of the Blue Valley Ranch in Kremmling, CO.
We had also heard rumors of harassment of fly fisherman as they float through this section by private land owners such as Jones in an effort to dissuade people from floating through. Colorado water law states that the water belongs to the people but the stream bottom belongs to the land owner and any contact with the stream bottom or structures in the stream constitutes criminal trespass, a misdemeanor with hefty fines and possible jail time. We dont like the idea of going to jail for fly fishing so we approached the float with great trepidation. After careful evaluation we decided that the reward of a giant rainbow trout on the fly, outweighed the possibility of a night in the clinker! Besides, when was the last time I ate a green bologna sandwich behind bars? “What the hell”, I said. Lets go!
We unhitched Bruce’s boat and walked over to the edge of the “put in” and surveyed the situation. Meanwhile my dog George is surveying his own situation. Rabbits! Are they here? Could I find one? Where are the rabbits you told me about on the way up? “Dad, I don’t see any rabbits?!”
“Holy Crap!” Jim said. “Thats got to be a 120 foot drop to the boat ramp! Bruce chimed in. “How are we going to get the boat down to the river?” We looked down and saw another boat already at the bottom. “How did they do that?” I asked. “Did they just push the boat over the cliff and hope for the best? “I dont think so” Jim exclaimed. “We need a rope! A very very long rope.” Bruce went back to his old Chevy Suburban and began rumaging around. Bruce seems to always be prepared so I wasn’t too worried. I think he probably has everything from a can opener to an expresso machine somewhere in that monster machine of his so a rope should be no problem. Sure enough, he emerged with a rope. But would it be long enough?
We attached the rope to the stern of the boat and worked it over to the edge. Bruce positioned himself at the bow and stood below the boat on the top of the embankment. “Seriously Bruce, what if that boat gets away and runs you over?” I asked. Bruce replied with his thin smile. Then tell my family that I love them.” “Tell them that I died doing what I love.” We all laughed, but more to diffuse the moment than out of sheer hilarity. I really didn’t like the idea of a Bruce pancake sliding slowly to the bottom as the boat raced by on a course to destruction. Besides, if Bruce dies then who would want a broken Clackacraft?
I stood first in line behind the drift boat followed by Jim as the anchor. In retrospect it should have me as the anchor because of my considerable girth. Jesus I need to lose some weight. But the plan was literally put together in an instant as we were jonesing to go fishing. ” OK guys, let the line out slowly and I will guide it down.” Bruce said. ” Don’t let go of the rope ok? “ I could tell that Bruce was getting nervous. “No problem Bruce, we can hold it!” I said. I looked back at Jim. “We can hold it right? I asked Jim. Jim looked up at me and shrugged his shoulders. “I guess we’ll find out.”
So as a former actor and comedian I have this nervous habit of singing Broadway show tunes when I am nervous. I broke in with a rousing rendition of “Ive never been in love before” from Guys and Dolls. “So please forgive this helpless haze I’m in
I’ve really never been
In love before!
“Shut up Scott and hold the rope!” Bruce was getting pissed.
The boat began to slowly inch over the slippery precipice. “Please do not kill my friend, please do not kill my friend,” I chanted softly to myself. The drift boat, now heavily weighted with hundreds of pounds of gear dropped a full 4 feet before we even knew what was happening. Then another 4 feet, then 6. “Slow it down!” Bruce barked, clearly concerned more for his beautiful ride than his own safety. Our hands clenched harder on the small nylon braid. The boat slowed. We gradually learned what tension to give the rope so as to ease it in a more steady fashion.
The Clackacraft was now about 70 feet down the embankment and Bruce was feeling good about the prospect of getting it down without a catastrophe. I think the show tunes put us all at ease. I glanced back to see Jim looking at the amount of rope that we had left and accessing the distance to the bottom. Clearly, he saw trouble. But the heavy craft just kept descending.
It hit a stretch about 2/3 of the way down that got even steeper and all hell broke lose. The line began racing through our fingers and now, neither Jim nor I could not stop it. The rope was getting shorter and shorter and the little ship was moving faster and faster. 5 feet, 4 feet, 3 feet, 2 feet…Jim and I saw each other and knew this was not good. “Bruce!” I yelled. “Get out of the way!” “No more rope!!!”
And off to the races she went. And where she would end nobody knew.
Now Bruce is a hell of an athlete. He is in his early 50’s and runs and plays soccer. He is also wiry and has a very determined way about him. But a Drift boat is so much bigger and heavier and with all the accessories; the beer, the cooler, the gear, the beer, and the beer, it can really become an immovable object creating a irresitable force if you get my drift. So this thing is now up to around 8 miles and hour and little 167 pound Bruce is running along side her and pushing with all his might to keep her from running into the trees on the left. The battle raged on for about 3.5 seconds. It seemed more like 30 to me. Ill be danmed if he didnt give it just enough of a push to save the day. The craft slowed at the very last and came to a creeping halt just before the river.
Silence.
We all looked at one another. I could tell Bruce was shaking at the bottom. “That went well!” I said and launched into My Boy Bill from Carousel.
Bruce hollered up the hill, go, go! I’m fine.
We had to shuttle a vehicle down to the take out 15 miles down river. Bruce had me driving his Suburban, and Jim his Suv. The conversation when we got to the river, which I did not remember because I already had fish on the brain and was preocupied with them went as follows…
Bruce. Now Scott, I am giving you this key. It is the key to the Suburban. It is very important that you not misplace it. It is our only key. Please do not lose it. The key is our ticket back here at the end of a long day. Focus on the key… Now listen carefully. “Scott! Are you listening to me?” “Yeah, yeah.” I nodded. “Ten pound plus fish? Wow.” I thought. “I wonder if there is a twenty pounder in there somewhere.” Bruce. ” And you take the key back with you and we will put it in the boat and have it when we get done tonight.” Me. “Ill bet the fish are keying in on sculpins. Big ones. Maybe a mottled pattern fished right on the bottom.”
“Got it?”
“Got it.”
We arrive at the take out and I park the car. I jump into Jim’s Toyota and say lets go! I look over at Jim and say. “Now Jim, I am putting the key here in your glove box so you and I both know where it is at, Ok?” “Ok.” Jim says and we head back upstream. I will leave that key in the glovebox. I will not have that key in the boat. We will have no key. And it is a long float through hell and back.
Tune in tommorow for more….
Scott

I just got back from Vegas. And I feel good. How can that be? I did all the things that one would do in Vegas. Drink, and gamble and drink and gamble. I did win a little at first and then eventually lost a lot. The toll that drinking takes on the body is even worse than the toll that a stingy slot machine will take on the wallet. Damage to the brain can be permanent. Vegas can hurt you in a lot of ways.
A friend of mine in Hawaii turned me on to a new antioxidant superfood that not only cures a hangover, but prevents it in the first place. Remember, this is my experience only and I do not claim to have any fancy studies about this product and its effects on the hangover. Just my personal experience with the product. Kona Red is an antioxidant superfood that absorbs damaging free radicals. According to their website and the studies that they site, it may be the worlds greatest antioxidant in terms of oracs. So I figured that if it is the worlds greatest antioxidant, and alcholol is a horrible oxidizer and cell damager, that taking Kona Red before bed would help with the morning hangover. It worked! Awesome results. Here is what I pulled off the Kona Red website on the benefits of their product. The very first shipments of this product will become available in Sept. of 2009 For more info on how to order this product contact Scott Thompson @ 303-263-4084 or email him at info@cstoredirect.com.

High-ORAC Foods May Slow Aging
By Judy McBride
February 8, 1999WASHINGTON, Feb. 8–Foods that score high in an antioxidant analysis called ORAC may protect cells and their components from oxidative damage, according to studies of animals and human blood at the Agricultural Research Service’s Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts in Boston. ARS is the chief scientific agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture
ORAC, short for Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity, is a test tube analysis that measures the total antioxidant power of foods and other chemical substances.
Early findings suggest that eating plenty of high-ORAC fruits and vegetables–such as spinach and blueberries–may help slow the processes associated with aging in both body and brain.
“If these findings are borne out in further research, young and middle-aged people may be able to reduce risk of diseases of aging–including senility–simply by adding high-ORAC foods to their diets,” said ARS Administrator Floyd P. Horn.
In the studies, eating plenty of high-ORAC foods:
- Raised the antioxidant power of human blood 10 to 25 percent
- Prevented some loss of long-term memory and learning ability in middle-aged rats
- Maintained the ability of brain cells in middle-aged rats to respond to a chemical stimulus–a function that normally decreases with age
- Protected rats’ tiny blood vessels–capillaries–against oxygen damage
Nutritionist Ronald L. Prior contends, “If we can show some relationship between ORAC intake and health outcome in people, I think we may reach a point where the ORAC value will become a new standard for good antioxidant protection.” (See table at end for ORAC values of fruits and vegetables.)
The thesis that oxidative damage culminates in many of the maladies of aging is well accepted in the health community. The evidence has spurred skyrocketing sales of antioxidant vitamins. But several large trials have had mixed results.
“It may be that combinations of nutrients found in foods have greater protective effects than each nutrient taken alone,” said Guohua (Howard) Cao, a physician and chemist who developed the ORAC assay.
He and Prior have seen the ORAC value of human blood rise in two studies. In the first, eight women gave blood after separately ingesting spinach, strawberries and red wine–all high-ORAC foods–or taking 1,250 milligrams of vitamin C. A large serving of fresh spinach produced the biggest rise in the women’s blood antioxidant scores–up to 25 percent–followed by vitamin C, strawberries and lastly, red wine
In the second study, men and women had a 13- to 15-percent increase in the antioxidant power of their blood after doubling their daily fruit and vegetable intake compared to what they consumed before the study. Just doubling intake, without regard to ORAC scores of the fruits and vegetables, more than doubled the number of ORAC units the volunteers consumed, said Prior.
Early evidence for the protecting power of these diets comes from rat studies by Prior, Cao and colleagues. Rats fed daily doses of blueberry extract for six weeks before being subjected to two days of pure oxygen apparently suffered much less damage to the capillaries in and around their lungs, Prior said. The fluid that normally accumulates in the pleural cavity surrounding the lungs was much lower compared to the group that didn’t get blueberry extract.
Neuroscientist James Joseph and psychologist Barbara Shukitt-Hale at the center tested middle-aged rats that had eaten diets fortified with spinach or strawberry extract or vitamin E for nine months. A daily dose of spinach extract “prevented some loss of long-term memory and learning ability normally experienced by the 15-month-old rats,” said Shukitt-Hale.
Spinach was also the most potent in protecting different types of nerve cells in two separate parts of the brain against the effects of aging, said Joseph.
“These cells were significantly more responsive when the animals ate diets fortified with high-ORAC foods–especially spinach–compared to unfortified diets,” Joseph said. “The spinach group scored twice as responsive as the control animals.”
Why spinach is more effective than strawberries–which score higher in the ORAC assay–is still a mystery. The researchers conjecture that it may be due to specific compounds or a specific combination of them in the greens.
More details on this research appear in an article in the February issue of Agricultural Research, ARS’ monthly magazine. The story is also available on the World Wide Web at:
